College of Public Health Undergraduate Academic Advisor
I have a lot to be grateful for after taking advantage of the services provided by The Ohio State University Health Plan. Initially I was skeptical, when contacted by the University, about the benefits of its health coaches. I have worked at The Ohio State University for over 10 years as an undergraduate academic advisor. I currently work for the College of Public Health. I have been in regular contact with Patient Care Resource Manager, Kit Arnold (RN, BSN, CDE) and Health Coach, Adam Roberts. Both Kit and Adam have provided me with innovative ways to maintain my health by utilizing resources available through the University. As an older adult, I have had Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes for over 40 years. They have both been helpful with my intention to be proactive with addressing possible health problems that could interfere with my ability to work and continue activities I enjoy. I have played recreational hockey at the OSU ice rink for almost 10 years. Adam has given me terrific suggestions of how to increase my upper body strength without the need to go to a gym. Kit has offered numerous recommendations of health care providers offered through OSU assuring I am receiving the most up-to-date diabetes treatment plans. I wear an insulin pump along with a continuous glucose-monitoring device (GCM) which helps me monitor my blood sugar readings closely. Both Kit and Adam have always been professional, personable, respectful, sensitive, resourceful and positive in their communications with me. I am indebted to their support and while working at OSU and I look forward to utilizing their services when needed.
