Affected by Identity Theft? Turn to the Ohio State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for Help!
Helka Casey, MSEd, LPCC-S, Employee Assistance Program

The Ohio State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here for you with our Identity Theft Protection and Recovery benefit. Identity theft harms its victims on many levels: emotional duress of having one’s financial security compromised, damaged credit and reputation, and the time required to prove the crime and one’s innocence. On average, identify theft costs its victims 60 hours and $1,000 to recover their identity and repair their credit record. Even the best-laid security measures can be foiled by a clever thief. That’s when your Ohio State EAP Identity Theft Prevention and Recovery services become an essential benefit.

The benefit provides a complimentary phone consultation with a Fraud Resolution Specialist to assist with restoring identity and credit standing. You can ask for a complimentary Identity Theft Emergency Response Kit and for guidance on protective measures to avoid further identity theft occurrences.  Plus, you can receive complimentary identity theft monitoring.

You can initiate the process of being connected to our identity theft partner by calling (800) 678-6265 or by submitting a work-life request online, click here. (If you submit an online request, the intake team typically respond via email; please note, sometimes the responses are routed to your email’s spam/junk folder.)  An intake team member will connect you with our identity theft partner.

You can also check out the Federal guidelines on how to address an identity theft here.

There are many other services you can access through your Ohio State EAP. Visit our page here to learn more.
