As the trees begin to bloom, so can your self-awareness! Many, if not most, of our behaviors are done without conscious thought. While it’s amazing what the subconscious mind can accomplish, it may not always lead to behaviors that create happiness. Autopilot is not always our friend.
Self-observation can go a long way in helping us stop our automatic behaviors and recognize what drives us. Sometimes, an outside source can help aid in this awareness. For this purpose, I am a big fan of a personality tool known as the Enneagram. Some of you may have heard of it.
The Enneagram can really enhance one’s understanding of self and others. This can help with healthy expectations but also in identifying areas of potential growth. It can help us learn why we do what we do.
This past year, I had the honor of teaching a series about the Enneagram through The Ohio State University Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This year, we are continuing the four-week series, and you have two more opportunities to join us in June or September. You may register for one of the series below. For other local learning opportunities, check out Enneagram Institute of Ohio.
