Finding Emotional Balance
Jodie Leister LPCC-S, CEAP; The Ohio State University Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Mental Health Awareness month 2025 is here! This month The Ohio State University Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is offering a new EAP workshop series addressing emotional regulation. Emotional regulation is “the process of managing and modifying emotions to effectively respond to environmental challenges. It involves using various strategies to influence which emotions we experience, when we experience them, and how we express them.”

Participants will learn the ins and outs of what emotional regulation is and why it’s so important, as well as develop key emotional-regulation skills including self-soothing, breathing techniques, and somatic practices to release emotions stored in the body. These cognitive and somatic-based skills support emotional regulation, helping participants to find and create balance in their relationships and their environments. Due to the interactive nature of these workshops, they will not be recorded.
